California Desert Chorale Presents Composer John Bucchino In A Special Master Class  Image

The music of Composer/Lyricist John Bucchino (Broadway's A CATERED AFFAIR and Off-Broadway's IT'S ONLY LIFE and LAVENDER GIRL (part of Hal Prince's 3hree) will be front and center in a very special Master Class presented by California Desert Chorale on Saturday, April 1 from 1-4:30 pm on the College Of The Desert campus in Palm Desert. The Master Class is open to the public and is free of charge. Among John Bucchino's honors are two Drama Desk nominations, The Johnny Mercer Songwriter Award, The ASCAP Foundation Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award, The Jonathan Larson Award, The Kleban Award, The Los Angeles Ovation Award (for the revue IT'S ONLY LIFE), The DVD Premiere Award (for the song "Better Than I"), and the first annual Fred Ebb Award.

John Bucchino's songs have been performed and recorded by renowned pop (Art Garfunkel, Judy Collins), theatre (Liza Minnelli, Patti LuPone, Kristin Chenoweth, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald), cabaret (Barbara Cook, Michael Feinstein), and classical (Yo-Yo Ma, Deborah Voight, Nathan Gunn), artists as well as The Boston Pops, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in venues including Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Opera, The Hollywood Bowl, The Sydney Opera House, London's O2 Arena and The White House.

Master Class Singers will include:

Charles Herrera, Tenor ("Grateful"), Jazmin Chavez, Soprano ("If I Ever Say I'm Over You"), Mars Quintero, Mezzo-Soprano ("The Song with the Violins"), Jerome Elliott, Tenor ("Taking the Wheel"), Revae Reynolds, Soprano ("Temporary"), Rick Schaffner, Bass ("Unexpressed"), Lu Rector, Alto ("On My Bedside Table"), Sheila Raczynski, Alto ("Sepia Life") and Brianna Finnell, Soprano ("This Moment").

The Master Class will be held at the Pollock Theater on the campus of the College of the Desert, 43-500 Monterey Avenue, Palm Desert. This event is FREE and seats are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
