Love is in the air at Theatre Artists Studio, as this year's installment in The Studio's "Words for Music" program features songs of romance by popular composers and lyricists Lerner and Loewe, Frank Loesser, Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, Paul McCartney and many more. CRAZY LOVE explores the unintended consequences that result for a group of close friends following the unexpected engagement of one of its members. In story and song, the friends explore the ups and downs of love, the highs and lows of romantic relationships, and the sometimes comical, sometimes bittersweet, side effects of being in love.
Told in words and music by some of our best musical composers, CRAZY LOVE demonstrates that the course of romance is rarely a straight line. It's full of unpredictable turns, erratic zigzags and surprising bumps along the way. But, paradoxically, love proves once again that it is still the shortest distance between two points!
Written by Studio member Nina Koch, CRAZY LOVE has direction by Studio veteran Susan Back, Musical Direction by longtime Valley favorite Christy Welty, and choreography by Hilary Hirsch. It stars Sydney Davis, Lynn Timmons Edwards, Cynthia Elek, Carolyn Folks, Warren Krompf, Alex Oliver and Jennifer Statler. CRAZY LOVE is presented by special arrangement with ASCAP and BMI.
