Black Theatre Troupe announces its final production of the 2017/18 Season, THREE SISTAHS. (Please note this is a change in production, NOT a change in schedule. Three Sistahs replaces Blackberry Daze which was previously announced.)
"Three Sistahs," transplants Anton Chekhov's "Three Sisters" from Moscow 1901 to Washington DC, circa 1969. Deep harmonies of Motown, bebop, gospel and blues provide the backdrop as the sisters navigate between Vietnam, civil rights and a smoldering family dynamic taken straight from Chekhov's classic.
THREE SISTAHS features Jennifer Robinson returning to the Black Theatre Troupe stage as Olive Bradshaw, following her powerhouse performance earlier this season in the title role of Caroline or Change. Ebony Gammage appears as Marsha and Kenyata White as Irene with Musical Direction by Anthony Cowan. David Hemphill will direct.
THREE SISTAHS will be performed by Black Theatre Troupe from APRIL 6 - 22, 2018 at the Helen K. Mason Performing Arts Center, 1333 E. Washington St. Phoenix, AZ 85034. Tickets are $38 and are on sale at blacktheatretroupe.org or by calling 602-258-8129.
