'S Wonderful! Love, dreams, and the joy of being alive! A musical adaptation of the Academy Award-winning film featuring some of George and Ira Gershwin's most beloved music including I Got Rhythm, The Man I Love, and They Can't Take That Away from Me, this is an enduring story of hope, romance, and love in a city rebuilding from the heartbreak of World War II. Choreographed by ABT's own Kurtis Overby, An American in Paris is sure to be Magnifique!
Over the past fourteen years, Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) patrons have come to know Kurtis Overby not only for his incredible talents as a dancer, singer, & actor on stage (Crazy for You, Cabaret, and Singin' in the Rain, just to name a few) but also for the many shows where his brilliant and inspired choreography has been featured. From the memorable kick-line scene in A Chorus Line and the precision of the Jellicle Ball in CATS, to the high-flying athletic routines of Tarzan and the iconic tap sequence in 42nd Street, Kurtis' style and artistry have come to define ABT's brand of entertainment and the quality of performance on our stage.
ABT newcomers Andrew Ruggieri and Rebecca Shulla play the star-crossed lovers, Jerry Mulligan and Lise Dassin. Also new to ABT are Matthew Blum (Mr. Z.) and Ensemble members Emma Bartolomucci, Alyssa Ishihara, Scotty Jacobson, Megan Schwartz, Daniel Stanley, and Emily Stys.
Returning to ABT are Michael Brennan (Titanic) as Henri Baurel, Michael O'Brien (Sweeney Todd, A Christmas Carol the Musical, Man of La Mancha, Carousel, Les Mis) as Adam Hochberg, Beatrice Crosbie (Mary Poppins) as Milo Davenport, Carolyn McPhee (Titanic, Catch Me If You Can, The Bridges of Madison County, Hands on a Hardbody) as Madame Baurel, Christopher Cody Cooley (Titanic, Catch Me If You Can, Show Boat) as Monsieur Baurel, Laurie Trygg (A Christmas Carol the Musical, Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid, Sweet Charity, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Odd Couple) as Olga.
