A series as eclectic as it is refined; ASU Gammage's Beyond Series is like no other in the country. For 22 years, this carefully curated performing art series brings world-class artists into the community by presenting evocative and compelling work along with connecting to Valley residents through engaging Cultural Participation programs such as artist residency programs and master classes. ASU Gammage

With PLAY/PAUSE, Marshall embraces the collisions of high art and pop culture to create the ultimate mash-up: postmodern dance-theater meets rock-and-roll on both real and virtual stages. Popular dance and indie rock form the undercurrent for an exploration of our consumption of pop culture. The performance is combined and counterpointed by video that helps take audiences in unexpected directions and deepens their experience. PLAY/PAUSE features an original score by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang that merges the iconic pop sound of electric guitar with abstract rhythms.

AnDa Union makes their return to ASU Gammage after a world tour showcasing the power and magic of Mongolian traditions and culture. AnDa Union's inspiration lies within old and forgotten songs, drawing on a repertoire of music that had all but disappeared. AnDa Union's fusion of traditions and styles from Inner and Outer Mongolia creates innovative and magical music previously unfathomable.

As part of the PLAYING FOR PEACE program, founded by the Apple Hill String Quartet in 1998, ASU Gammage is bringing together world-renowned artists that use music to bridge the divide between Arab and Israeli cultures. The centerpiece of the project is a new commission by Syrian composer Kareem Roustom that uses the unique sound of Apple Hill String Quartet

and combines them with Syrian clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and Israeli pianist Sally Pinkas.

REGENERATION

Eiko & Koma return to ASU Gammage to present REGENERATION, a three part retrospective looking at some of their most acclaimed andcelebrated work. Characterized by bold, highly theatrical strokes, Eiko & Koma's performance focuses on the elemental with works that transcend everyday notions of time and space. With REGENERATION, the works RAVEN, NIGHT TIDE and WHITE DANCE give audiences a look at more than 40 years of unique and riveting theater of movement out of stillness, shape, light and sound. APPOINTMENT is a series of collaborative works that are performed in office spaces by ASU Gammage resident artist Aaron Landsman and local artists and performed by both in office spaces. Using the rituals and environment of the workplace as a departure point, APPOINTMENT takes a situation that can seem beneath examination and turns it into a cause for pleasure and surprise. APPOINTMENT was developed through collaborations with theater and dance companies as well as individual artists and the result pushes the concept of theater to unpredictable and captivating places
