Mga Kuwento ni Lola Basyang, PETA’s longest running play, is a children’s musical that features three stories from Severino Reyes’ iconic Lola Basyang collection.
Lola Basyang is a mythical character created by Reyes, a major figure in Philippine Literature and also known as the Father of Zarzuela. This is our version of the Grimm brothers and Hans Christian Andersen stories. The writer adapts for the stage three of Reyes’ timeless stories, “Ang Prinsipeng Mahaba Ang Ilong” (The Prince with a Long Nose), “Ang Binibining Tumalo Sa Hari” (The Young Girl Who Outwitted the King) and “Ang Kuba” (The Hunchback). The three stories explore the themes of tolerance, acceptance, intelligence and courage.
