ROB BECKER'S
DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN
Broadway's Smash Comedy About the Sexes

Directed by: Michael Williams & Cathy Azanza-Dy

The caveman cometh… again! See what critics have called “the perfect date play” (BusinessWorld): Defending The Caveman by American standup comedian Rob Becker. This “insightful” and “hilarious” (BroadwayWorld.com) one-man comedy tackles the Battle of the Sexes, addressing age-old questions: Why do men leave their dirty underwear on the floor? Why do women have trouble reading maps? Why do men greet each other with insults? Why do women love to cuddle? Why don’t men like to talk? And why can’t women ever seem to stop? And just in case you aren’t one of the 8 million people in 45 countries who have already been enlightened by this side-splitting show, you have one more chance to see Defending The Caveman when it returns to Manila in January 2012!

The longest-running one-man comedy in Broadway history, this “hysterically funny” (The New York Times) stage play uses anthropology, psychology, sociology, and observational humor to reveal the hidden mysteries of both sexes. Once again, the performer lending his “dominant stage presence” (Manila Bulletin) and “wonderful comic timing” (BusinessWorld) to Defending the Caveman is theater artist, playwright, producer, and director Joel Trinidad. Most recently seen onstage in such highly-acclaimed productions as the Broadway-meets-Vegas musical extravaganza Kaos (which recently earned him an Aliw Award) and in his original musical Breakups & Breakdowns (which he also directed and produced through his own theater company, Upstart Productions), Trinidad is glad to be back for an unprecedented fourth run of this, his first foray into solo comedy. “The script is basically a 35-page monologue,” he quips, “and since I’ve already memorized it I might as well keep doing the show.”
