Manila, Philippines--Earlier today, select members of the press, including BroadwayWorld.com, were invited to a "vocals only" rehearsal of Cameron Mackintosh's reimagined production of popular musical LES MISERABLES (LES MIS), which is embarking on its first Asian Tour (Manila: March 11 to April 17 at The Theatre at Solaire; Singapore: May 31 to July 17 at Esplanade Theatre).

In the tour's Manila leg, homegrown talent Rachelle Ann Go ("Miss Saigon," "Disney's The Little Mermaid"), who plays Fantine in London, will join an international cast made up of Earl Carpenter ("Phantom of the Opera," "The Witches of Eastwick"), who was last seen playing Inspector Javert on Broadway; Simon Gleeson ("Love Never Dies," "Chess"), who played Jean Valjean in Australia; Chloe De Los Santos ("The King and I"), who played Little Cosette in Australia; Helen Walsh ("Menier Chocolate Factory," "The Sound of Music"), who played Madame Thénardier in London; Cameron Blakely ("Into the Woods," "Fiddler on the Roof"); Paul Wilkins ("Crazy For You," "Wonderful Town"), who played Marius in London; Kerrie Anne Greenland ("Into The Woods," "Xanadu"), who played Eponine in Australia; Emily Langridge ("Gypsy," "Pirates of Penzance"), who played Cosette in Australia; Chris Durling ("Jersey Boys," "Disney's High School Musical"), who played Enjolras in Australia, and ensemble players Claudia Ballen, Daniel Belle, Billy Bourchier, Hugo Chiarella, Melanie Cornell, Jessica Daley, Mischana Dellora Cornish, Emilie Du Leslay, Blake Erickson, David Francis, Venice Harris, Matt Harrop, Tamlyn Henderson, Callum Hobson, Nigel Huckle, Holly-Anne Hull, James Hume, Ciaran Joyce, Liam Mcilwain, Sarah Murr, Adèle Parkinson, Joel Parnis, Kieran McGinlay, Michaela Powell, Lauren Soley, Mable Tamone, Oscar Tollofsen, Natasha Veselinovic, Tom Vincent, and Sebastian Witt.

Now in its 30th year, LES MIS, based on Victor Hugo's classic novel, is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. The show is known for its hit songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Stars," "Bring Him Home," "Do You Hear the People Sing?," "One Day More," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," and "Master Of The House."

LES MIS is written by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg. It has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, English lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, original adaption by Trevor Nunn and John Caird and additional material by James Fenton. The original LES MIS orchestrations are by John Cameron with new orchestrations by Christopher Jahnke, Stephen Metcalfe and Stephen Brooker.

This Asian Tour of the reimagined production of LES MIS is directed by Laurence Connor, James Powell, and Christopher Key with set and image design by Matt Kinley and Adam Wiltshire--inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo--costumes by Andreane Neofitou and Christine Rowland, lighting by Paule Constable, Richard Pacholski, and Simon Sheriff, sound by Mick Potter, Adam Fisher and Shelly Lee, and projections by Fifty-Nine Productions. Musical staging is by Michael Ashcroft and Geoffrey Garratt. Musical supervision is by Stephen Brooker and James Dodgson, and musical direction is by James Lowe and Geoffrey Castles.
