Manila, Philippines--Tritosroda Theater Productions, a new theater company based in San Juan City, stages its maiden production titled "Kalasag: Koleksyon ng Mga Nakabiting Tinig sa Saliw ng Oyayi" (Dream Sequences) from tomorrow, November 21, until Sunday, November 26, 7 p.m., at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani (Open Grounds) along Quezon Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
"The theme Dream Sequences for Tritosroda's launch is in celebration of the fulfillment of my friends' (Tritosroda's Juan Carlo Tarobal and Kristine Bautista) dream, thus the birth of the sub-themes: pangarap, panaginip, bangungot, ilusyon, imahinasyon, hiraya, handuraw-an, and mahika realistika. To share the love for our craft, we decided to collaborate with as much artists as we can to collectively breathe life to newly written Filipino works," said the production's director Karen Gaerlan.
The show also "aspires to encapsulate and epitomize Filipino perspectives and endeavors silenced by the conundrum of social construct ingrained in our culture that the Filipino dream is the 'American dream.' This production aims to rekindle hope in every Filipino dreamer who lost their fire in acceptance of the daily machination of life towards survival. In this production, we will also try to commemorate our individual personal dreams as we enter, together with our audience members, eight sites representing eight states/degrees of dreaming through theater, performance art, and multimedia," Gaerlan added.
The Artist Laboratory Productions, Baon Collective, Karl Medina, Paolo Dumlao, The UP Repertory Company, The Scenius Pro., Labi Productions, and Tanghalang Aranzazu are the collaborators.
