Manila, Philippines--There are only two seasons in the Philippines: the dry season and the wet season. Technically, it's the wet season in the country from June to August; nevertheless, the local theater scene remains bustling with activities during these "bring your umbrella" months.
Below are our top-five picks for the Philippine Theater scene's third quarter:
Top 1: Velvet Channel Airs the Tony Awards
For the fourth time, Velvet Channel on cable TV brings to the Philippines the exclusive live broadcast of the Tony Awards on Monday, June 9, at 8 a.m. The Tony Awards, the most prestigious theatrical awards in the United States, are once again hosted by Hugh Jackman.
Filipino-American Broadway actor Adam Jacobs leads the cast of Disney's "Aladdin" on Broadway.
Top 2: The Philstage Awards for the Performing Arts
Philstage, an alliance of performing arts companies in the Philippines, presents its annual industry awards at Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) on Friday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m.
Nominees include Trumpets' "The Bluebird of Happiness," Tanghalang Pilipino's "Sandosenang Sapatos" and "Ibalong," 9 Works Theatrical's "They're Playing Our Song," Repertory Philippines' "The Producers," and Actor's Actors Inc.'s (The Necessary Theater) "Red," among others.
Top 3: STOMP Returns to Manila
London's West End and Off-Broadway's percussion sensation, STOMP, will return to the CCP main theater for a limited eight-performance engagement from Tuesday, June 17, to Sunday, June 22.
Two additional acts, "Frogs" and "Trolleys," will accompany this edition, which has been continually revised since STOMP's genesis as a street act in the United Kingdom nearly 23 years ago.

Top 4: Kids Acts Philippines Presents HANSEL AND GRETEL

Top 5: PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT Continues to Run at Resorts World Manila
