Resorts World Manila To Hold Auditions for ANNIE This Weekend

Manila, Philippines--Resorts World Manila's (RWM) Full House Theater Company will hold open auditions this Saturday, April 9, and Sunday, April 10, for its seventh major production, the hit Broadway musical ANNIE, which is set to premiere in September at RWM's Newport Performing Arts Theatre.

The open auditions, whose registration starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m., will be held at the Ceremonial Hall, Marriott Grand Ballroom (Newport Boulevard, Newport City Complex, Pasay City).

RWM's Full House Theater Company is looking to cast the following roles:

Annie

Female, 10-12 years old

Orphans Molly, Kate, Tessie, Pepper, July, and Duffy

Female, six to 15 years old (must pass for a 12-year-old or younger)

The young auditionees should be highly proficient in spoken English; they should also bring two pictures: one whole body shot, one half body shot, and must learn the following songs from the musical: "Tomorrow," "Maybe," "It's a Hard-Knock Life," and "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile."

Note to Parents: Strictly one companion per child

The original production of ANNIE opened April 21, 1977 at the Alvin Theatre and went on to win the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, seven Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, the Grammy Award for Best Cast Show Album and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book (Thomas Meehan) and Best Score (Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin). The show was one of the biggest Broadway musical hits of the 1970s, running for almost six years and playing 2,377 performances.

The score for ANNIE includes "Maybe," "It's the Hard-Knock Life," "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile," "Easy Street," "I Don't Need Anything But You," and the eternal anthem of optimism, "Tomorrow."
