Repertory Philippines, the country's premier professional theatre company, has garnered a total of 18 nominations at the 2009 "Gawad Buhay!" Philstage Awards for the Performing Arts. Now on its second year, The Philstage Awards is the first-ever industry awards given to outstanding individuals and groups, who have been part of Philstage. This year's judges come from an independent jury composed of theatre and arts critics, artists, educators, and aficionados.

Repertory Philippines was established in 1967 by Filipino theatre stalwarts Zenaida Amador, Baby Barredo (currently Artistic Director), Leo Martinez, and Tony Mercado.
It has produced over 300 shows (Shakespearean plays, classics, comedies and musicals) in the past 40 years. It has also been an important training ground of today's renowned Filipino theatre actors including Tony winner Lea Salonga, Cocoy Laurel, Junix Inocian, Michael Williams, Monique Wilson, Pinky Amador, Joy Virata, Miguel Faustmann, Bart Guingona, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Audie Gemora, Ana Abad Santos, Rem Zamora, and Liesl Batucan.
Repertory Philippines' current offering is Mark Saltzman's comedy musical "Romeo & Bernadette" playing OnStage at Greenbelt One, Makati City 'til February 28, 2010.
