Manila, Philippines, April 2, 2013 -- Kathleen Turner (Mrs. Robinson), Jason Biggs (Benjamin Braddock), and Alicia Silverstone (Elaine) would have found their Filipino counterparts Pinky Marquez, Reb Atadero, and Cara Barredo respectively by the time the hit West End and Broadway play "The Graduate," based on the novel and film of the same name, opens at Onstage Theater, Greenbelt 1 on Friday, April 5.
Veteran stage actor and director Jaime del Mundo ("Mind's Eye," "Peter Pan") directs Marquez, Atadero, and Barredo, along with Jeremy Domingo, Angela Padilla, Nathalie Everett, and Joel Trinidad, for this Repertory Philippines' (Rep) 76th season third offering, which was preceded by Marc Camoletti's sex comedy "Boeing-Boeing" and Douglas J. Cohen's musical comedy "No Way to Treat a Lady."
Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy's children's musical "Alice in Wonderland" and Mel Brooks' musical comedy "The Producers" are next in line at Rep.
"The Graduate" tells the story of Braddock, an aimless university graduate, who is seduced by a cougar, Mrs. Robinson.
However, Braddock falls in love with Mrs. Robinson's daughter Elaine.
Cherie Gil, veteran film, television, and stage actress, was originally announced to play the role of Mrs. Robinson last year.
