Manila, Philippines--Sining-Lahi Polyrepertory, the resident student theater group of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), will stage Yoji Sakate's "A Contemporary Noh Play: Three Sisters" on September 1-2, 2 and 5 p.m., at PUP Theatre (COC Building along Anonas Street, Santa Mesa, Manila). Admission is free.

Translated by Rody Vera, directed by Rommel Iquin, and produced by Mary Ann Fate Erni, the staging of "Three Sisters" serves as the group's laboratory production, also called "Dulaaralan," on its 35th season of producing quality plays for the PUP community. "Dulaaralan" is the group's training ground for its newest members.

A story about war, love, and passion, "Three Sisters" follows the encounter of actors and soldiers in an unexpected situation. During the war, retreating soldiers, who were looking for a campsite, barge in a shabby theatre thinking that it's the perfect place for them to stay. Later on, the soldiers notice the presence of actors and converse with them. These conversations lead to another, which made the soldiers discover that the actors were actually holding a memorial service honoring the souls of the dead lying on the theatre grounds.

To promote a dialogue between the audience and the play's director, creative and production teams, "Dulaaralan" usually holds a talk-back session at the end of the play.
