Manila, Philippines--UST Pharmacy Theater Catalyst, together with Odeon Theatricals, presents "Payong, The Musical," which features Original Pilipino Music (OPM) "karaoke" hits by Sarah Geronimo, Yeng Constantino, Cueshe, and Sugarfree, among others. (All the songs included have been licensed by the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers [FILSCAP]).
The musical runs from March 27-29, 2019, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., at the Buenavides Auditorium, 3F Junior High School Building, University of Santo Tomas (UST).
"Payong, The Musical" is about heartbreak, finding one's self, and loving again.
Directed by Audric Abas, the show also features the book by Marlon Viloso, musical direction by Edward Talavera, Cathryn Gargar, and Pia Marie Paulican, choreography by John Paulo Alquizar, lighting design by Kristen Villaescusa, and set design by Angelica Marquez.
Its cast includes Alex Mendoza as Ella Concepcion, Nico Orduña as Ervin Velarde, Immanuel Uykhilam as Alexander Dizon, Alexandria Vasquez as Dutchess Labiano, Brian Saludo as Duchess Labiano, Michelle Irish Marcos as Veronica, Christian Chang as Matthew Matiora, Neil Prowel as Erning, Camille Joy Sebastian as Nanay Maring, Andi Zamora as Esmeralda, Jason Ramos as Arnold, Shaina Dulay as Inday, and Roman Bernardino as Kayod.
The musical is performed with live music provided by Keyboard 1: Edward Paolo Talavera, Keyboard 2: Joel Dacumos, Keyboard 3: Marko Raquiza, Reed: Jr Silangcruz, Violin 1: Dianne Maceren, Violin 2: Zhiery Dane Oczon, Cello: Vanette Vilanueva, Guitar: Ramon Alberto. Bass: Cerwin Salaguinto, and Drums: Dericke Agua.
