Tony winner Lea Salonga, together with toddler daughter Nicole and mom Ligaya, took time to watch local gospel theatre Trumpets’ new musical N.O.A.H. (No Ordinary Aquatic Habitat) on its first Saturday matinee performance (September 5, 2009) at the Meralco Theater in Manila.
N.O.A.H. has been reaping very favorable reviews including Salonga’s endorsement, which came out in her column this morning. The singer/actress wrote, “(This is) Truly no ordinary N.O.A.H…When the show began, God went up on stage, and set things in motion.” (Philippine Daily Inquirer, September 10, 2009)
She had all praises for the performances selflessly given by veteran actor Carlo Orosa (Mr. Noah), London actress Sheila Francisco (Mrs. Noah), teen idol Sam Concepcion (Narrator/God), young thespians Marek, Enzo and Ruiz Sison (Noah’s sons), and the rest of the ensemble who were acting, dancing, and even moving sets and props throughout the two-hour show.
Salonga also gave the thumbs up to writer/director Jaime del Mundo, composer Rony Fortich, lighting designer John Batalla, and scenographer and costume designer Mio Infante “for those fabulous sets and costumes… All in all, it’s a great production that tells of the story of God’s love, and how one man’s obedience saved the world.”
N.O.A.H. is a funny, modern re-telling of the beloved Bible story narrated in song and dance.
The show runs until September 27, 2009. For tickets and/or more information call TRUMPETS (632) 6317252, (63) 921-7263642, (63) 917-8842105 or email trumpetsinc@gmail.com. Tickets also available at Ticketworld (632) 8919999 or www.ticketworld.com.ph.
