Imagine luminous singer Lea Salonga singing BILLY ELLIOT's signature hit "Electricity," or Amy Winehouse's Grammy-winning single "Rehab," as part of her brand new repertoire for a full-length concert. These are hints the Tony-winning actress herself had been recently spilling out in her sporadic tweets. And it sure does spell pure excitement for her fans!
Lea holds her much-awaited big holiday concert dubbed "Your Songs" at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), CCP Complex, Pasay City, Manila this weekend, December 11 (Fri) and 12 (Sat) at 8 p.m.
From over 5,000 song requests from around the globe, including the U.S., United Kingdom, Australia, and Dubai, Lea has selected a diverse and electrifying set that is sure to delight her loyal fan base, and new concertgoers alike.
Produced by AmbientMedia, Lea performs under the direction of Bobby Garcia (Avenue Q, Dogeaters), and musical direction of brother Gerard Salonga (West Side Story, Sweeney Todd) together with the 36-piece FILharmoniKa orchestra. Joining her as special guests are comedy concert queen Ai-Ai De Las Alas, big band crooner Richard Poon, and the world renowned hip hop group the Philippine All Stars.
Apart from the deluge of song requests that came in, some with heartwarming stories behind them, a good number of excellent audition videos were sent by Lea's fans through the concert's official website at www.leayoursongs.com. The site has also included a section where fans ask Lea any question that she may answer during the concert. (So if there's anything you've been dying to ask her, make sure to send in your questions now!)
