Kayla Rivera, Nick Varricchio to Star in BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL ImageManila, Philippines--Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group is thrilled to announce that Kayla Rivera will play the role of music icon Carole King in "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical."

The Tony, Olivier, and Grammy Award-winning musical "Beautiful," which tells the story of Carole's early life and career, opens at Meralco Theatre in Pasig City on June 14, 2019.

Rivera made her professional musical theater debut playing Nina Rosario in Atlantis' acclaimed staging of "In the Heights" in 2011. She has also played Princess Jasmine in Disney's "Aladdin," Carrie White in "Carrie," Wednesday Addams in "The Addams' Family," Sherrie in "Rock of Ages," and Violet Hilton in "Side Show."

Kayla says, "I'm so honored to be part of 'Beautiful,' more so playing the role of Carole King herself. Her music is timeless and simply touches the heart and soul of her listeners. Beyond that, she broke the barriers by making her mark in a male-dominated industry with the historic success of one of her best selling albums of all time, 'Tapestry.' She's a true inspiration and it's such a blessing to be trusted with this role. I can't wait to share her heart and deep love for music with the Filipino audience."

Joining in the cast is Nick Varricchio who was last seen on stage in Manila as Double J in Atlantis' touring production of "Saturday Night Fever." Nick will be playing Carole's writing partner and husband Gerry Goffin. Nick's musical credits include "A Chorus Line," "Happy Days," "Light in the Piazza," and "Spring Awakening."

Nick says, "I feel honored to join Atlantis' production of 'Beautiful,' The chance to create with [director] Bobby Garcia and his team makes me daydream about the tapestry we're going to weave. Ms. King was once called 'the first woman to give a downbeat,' and I'm eager to tell her story through words on pitch."

Together, Carole and Gerry wrote over 20 hit songs including "Up on the Roof" and "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow."

With a book by Douglas McGrath, "Beautiful" has been thrilling audiences with the inspiring true story of one woman's remarkable journey from teenage songwriter to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. From the string of pop classics she wrote for the biggest acts in music history to her own life-changing, chart-busting success with "Tapestry," "Beautiful" takes you back to where it all began--and takes you on the ride of a lifetime.

The musical features Carole's unforgettable classics such as "You've Got a Friend," "One Fine Day," "So Far Away," "Take Good Care of My Baby," "You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling," and "Natural Woman."

Currently, "Beautiful" continues to run on Broadway and on US National Tour.
