‘Great GLEE Sing Off’ Finals in the Philippines, 6/8

"Glee" has been enjoying phenomenal television success not only in the United States but also in the Philippines.  It is so well-received that  local cable television networks ETC and Jack TV, both from Solar Entertainment Corporation, launched the "Great GLEE Sing Off" contest calling Filipino fans to form their own 8-12 member show choirs similar to McKinley High School's glee club.   

Three local glee clubs -- Himig Sanghaya, Northwind Singers and Blazing Sensations -- have made it to the finals. The grand vocal showdown will happen on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, 8 p.m. at the SM Centerstage, SM Mall of Asia (The Philippines' second largest shopping mall.) Panel of judges will include Moy Ortiz (one of the pioneer members of the country's premier vocal group The CompanY), and representatives from Solar Entertaiment Corporation, Sony Music Philippines, and theatre group Trumpets.

Each show choir will perform twice:  first, a ballad picked from Sony Music Philippines' catalogue, and second, a song number featured on "Glee."

The "Great GLEE Sing Off" champion will receive a cash prize of PhP100,000.00, a group performance workshop package from Trumpets, and gift packs from ETC, Jack TV and sponsors. 

Non-winners will bring home a cash prize of PhP10,000.00, a group performance workshop package from Trumpets, and gift packs from ETC, Jack TV and sponsors.

2010 Golden Globe winner for best musical/comedy "Glee" is aired via satellite on ETC and Jack TV on Wednesday at 4 p.m. (Manila Time) with a primetime telecast on Jack TV at 8 p.m. and ETC at 10 p.m.
