GREASE to Raise Funds for Supertyphoon Haiyan Victims, 12/1

Manila, Philippines, November 13, 2013--50% of the proceeds from tickets sold from yesterday, November 12 to Sunday, November 17 for the closing performance of 9 Works Theatrical's latest production of '50s rock 'n' roll musical "Grease" on Sunday, December 1, at 8 p.m. will be donated to supertyphoon Haiyan (Yolanda) victims in central Philippines.

The proceeds "will be donated or used to buy relief goods I'll be sending to Ateneo or ABS-CBN #SagipKapamilya," said Tin Samson, the benefit show organizer.

"You'll enjoy the show of 9 Works Theatrical, and nakatulong pa kayo, she added.

Tacloban on Leyte island in the east-central of the Philippines has been a hot topic in the news lately when supertyphoon Haiyan, touted as one of the most powerful storms on record, slammed into the province Friday, November 8. Deaths have been estimated from 2,500 to 10,000. As of this writing, nearly 10 million people have been affected in Tacloban and nearby 7,251 villages in 471 municipalities and 51 cities according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

"Grease" gathers GMA talents Gian Magdangal as Danny Zuko and Frencheska Farr as Sandy Dumbrowski to lead the cast.

Making his professional theater debut is Rafa Siguion-Reyna, the son of filmmakers Carlos Siguion-Reyna and Bibeth Orteza.

Siguion-Reyna plays Kenickie, the T-Birds' second-in-command; he is paired with Iya Villania and Jennifer Blair-Bianco who are sharing the role of Betty Rizzo.

Other cast members are Carla Dunareanu, Reb Atadero, Mark Tayag, Vince Lim, Peachy Atilano, Sarah Facuri, Carlos Canlas, James Stacey, Harold Cruz, Sab Jose, Angela Padilla, and Carmella Ros.

Robbie Guevara is director; Lorenz Martinez is assistant director; Joseph Tolentino is musical director for instrumentation; Sweet Plantado-Tiongson is musical director for vocals; Arnold Trinidad and Francis Matheu are choreographers; Mio Infante is set and costume designer; John Batalla is lighting designer; and Chuck Ledesma is sound engineer.

"Grease" plays at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza in Makati City.
