Manila, Philippines--For Dulaang UP's (DUP) 42nd Theater Season and UP Playwrights' Theatre's (UPPT) 26th Theater Season, we pay tribute to heroes--both unsung and celebrated--who dared to swim against the current and fight. This season, we are HONORING DEFIANCE.
Featured are four masterworks that promise to uphold the artistic boldness that the company boasts for over four decades. DUP, known to have embraced a wide repertoire ranging from the classic to the contemporary, offers two productions this season. And UPPT, founded under the DUP umbrella to exclusively stage works of Filipino playwrights, also offers two productions this season.
The season line up includes:

(Dulaang UP)
Based on Eimear McBride's haunting novel and Annie Ryan's stage adaptation, A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing tells, in fragmented, poetic, and partly ambiguous language, the tragic life of a Girl, who has been repeatedly abused by her uncle, loses her beloved brother, grapples with the wicked religiosity of her mother, and increasingly finds herself in that corner of her life where no option is left. A harrowing piece that lays bare in no delicate terms, the appalling iniquity of sexual abuse and power.
Directed by: José Estrella
