BROADWAY STRIPPED To Live Stream Filipino Stars of Broadway in Celebration of Philippine Independence Day ImageBroadway World Cabaret has learned that Las Vegas based arts complex THE SPACE will live stream a performance of a show titled "Broadway Stripped" in honor of Philippine Independence Day. The benefit is described as an intimate show of Broadway songs and stories featuring the Filipino stars from Hamilton, The Phantom of the Opera, and Miss. Saigon; artists currently slated to appear include Ali Ewolt, Billy Bustamante, Jaygee Macapugay, Aaron Albano, Steven Cuevas, Liz Casasola, and Brian Jose.

BROADWAY STRIPPED does not, as one might wonder, a Las Vegas version of the famed "Broadway Bares" series - the performers will be fully clothed. The strip in the name Broadway Stripped refers to the Las Vegas Strip, a stretch of Nevada land that doesn't actually benefit from a plethora of Filipino performers. The Space co-founder Cheryl Daro was inspired to create Broadway Stripped after the year of Asian hate: "I wanted to give a response to all of the Asian hate that was happening - it hit me harder than I expected. The general response has been a lot of protests, but what I do best is produce shows to celebrate my culture as a Filipino." When inspiration hit, Ms. Daro (whose husband Mark Shunock partnered with her in the creation of The Space) immediately reached out to Broadway Barkada, and they came on board without hesitation. Together The Space and Broadway Barkada intend to change the industry and the community in a celebration of Filipino heritage and talent. Says Daro, "Let's bring some Filipino talent to this city, talent that Vegas has not seen yet."

The Broadway Stripped performance will raise benefit funding for the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC) and STOP AAPI HATE (AAPI stands for Asian American Pacific Islander). As the gifted artists perform in an intimate cabaret room at The Space on June 11th at 7 pm PT, viewers anywhere can livestream the event. Las Vegas residents can attend the benefit for $20 to $40, and live stream audiences can acquire tickets for $15.
