Manila, Philippines, September 18, 2013--Young star BJ Forbes stars as Don Juan in Gantimpala Theater's touring production of "Ibong Adarna" (The Adarna Bird) from Friday, September 27 and until Saturday, October 12. Roobak Valle directs.

"Playing the role is fun!" said Forbes in a statement. "Don Juan is the youngest of the three dons [members of the royal family]. His inherent goodness and love for his family are the traits that I admire most about him."

Gantimpala Theater's "Ibong Adarna," written by Ed Maranan, is based on the "Corrido at Buhay nang Pinagdaanan nang Tatlong Principeng Anak nang Haring Fernando at nang Reina Valeriana sa Cahariang Berbania." This corrido, a narrative song or poetry form, tells about the quest to find the mythical bird Adarna by three prince brothers: Don Pedro, Don Diego and Don Juan. The bird is believed to cure the three brothers' ailing father, Don Fernando.

Besides Forbes, the cast also includes Billy Parjan as Haring Fernando, Heidi Arima as Reyna Valeriana, Gerry Oliva as Don Pedro, Noel Escondo and Kristian Chua as Don Diego, Ellerica Laguardia, CJ Mangahis as Juana, Abel Napuran as Haring Salermo, Joey de Guzman as Ermitanyo and Matthew Manalaysay as the Ibong Adarna.

Sharlene Rivera lands the role of Maria Blanca opposite Forbes' Don Juan.

Andy Villareal is lighting designer; Ronald Santos is choreographer; Charyl de Guzman is production manager; and Joey David is stage manager.

Tour performances are on September 27-28 (9am/12nn/3pm) at AFP Theater, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City; October 4 (11am/2pm), SM Southnall Cinema 3, Las Piñas City; and October 11 and 12 (9am/12nn/3pm) Star Theater, Star City, Pasay City.
