The Philippines' long standing love affair with the songs of Air Supply can be witnessed in practically every karaoke session and in regular airplay over the radio. As their songs continue to resonate with Filipinos of all ages, Manila is the obvious choice for the World Premiere of All Out Of Love the Musical which opens at Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) in Resorts World Manila (RWM) on Thursday 18 October 2018.
"We have always had such great support from our Filipino fans, Manila is definitely the right city to launch the show! We're very excited!" Graham Russell Air Supply's song writer commented.
"We are excited to partner with Musical Management Asia Pacific in setting the stage for the World Premiere of All Out Of Love the Musical. It is a great source of pride to be the first to host a world class production such as this, and it is a big step towards our goal of making the Philippines the "Broadway of Asia", says Kingson Sian, President and CEO of RWM. "We can't wait for you to hear what may arguably be, the greatest love songs ever written, set to what may be one of the greatest love stories to grace the stage."
The musical features an original script by award winning Canadian playwright Jim Millan, with the classic songs of Air Supply skilfully woven into it to create a new love story. Air Supply is one of the most successful and enduring bands of all time, and with over 100 million album sales worldwide.
"This is a totally new show that uses Air Supply's music in a contemporary theatrical production," says Barry Siegel, Air Supply's Manager and the Producer of All Out Of Love the Musical. "It's a romantic comedy, a love story with great rock songs. What more could you ask for?"
The show will feature 17 Air Supply songs including "Lost in Love", "All Out of Love", "The One That You Love", "You are the Reason" and a few of their songs you might not have heard in a while.
"Air Supply were the first western group to tour China, Taiwan, and many other countries," notes Dale Harrison, producer. "With the World Premier in Manila, All Out Of Love the Musical will continue the tradition of breaking new ground."
The story of the musical happens over the course of one evening, as music mogul Tommy King tries to convince his struggling rock star Jamie Crimson to embark on a world tour to promote his new album and save Tommy King's record company.
Jamie is struggling having left behind his song writing partner and love of his life Rayne while Tommy is dealing with his own loss, that of his wife and his distant relationship with his daughter.
"Love can lift us up or leave us low. Love goes beyond time and place. But in New York, it's a different story. A last chance at real love might begin and end on a single night" muses Naomi Toohey, producer, "It's really an all or nothing story, but with laughs and maybe a few tears along the way".
