Upper Darby Summer Stage caps off its 44th season with Willy Wonka Jr., a musical based on Roald Dahls timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir.A Summer Stage favorite, Roald Dahls timeless story returns with songs from the classic family film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Willy Wonka stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Four of the five winning children are very unpleasant. The fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather, Grandpa Joe. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonkas rules in the factoryor suffer the consequences. Family members of all ages will follow the Candy Man on this adventure!The show is approximately one-hour long, with no intermission, and is ideal for ages 4 and up. Young audience members and their families are invited to come early for fun pre-show activities and to stay after the show to meet cast members! Free babysitting is offered for young family members who are too young to quietly enjoy the show. Parking is free.
