With the world on the brink of ecological collapse, an entomologist and her brother follow what may be the final flight of the Lepidoptera Danaus Plexippus (or monarch butterfly) while trying to develop the emotional vocabulary for what it means to live, create, or fall in love in an timeline with a deeply uncertain future. This world-premiere drama by lauded playwright Marisela Trevio Orta, simultaneously demonstrates the realistic fallout of an imminent, and increasingly plausible, environmental catastrophe, while portraying a vision of humanity inexplicably lurching toward an unexpected kind of extinction. A world premiere, commissioned for Temple Theaters.
