Maureen Mulligan of Queens has a blind date with Joseph Spinelli of Bensonhurst Brooklyn. It was arranged by her beautiful sister Sheila who worries about Maureen's lack of a social life. Maureen, who is heavy, has wrapped herself in a cocoon of clever one-liners to fend off further hurt. Joe arrives, a simple, straightforward guy who is taken with Maureen, but their evening ends in disaster. Sheila and her handsome preppy husband, Squire, try to straighten things out only to muddle them more. Squire's appeal to other women has also made Sheila insecure resulting in her continued reliance on cosmetic surgery. How these four caring, decent people resolve all this is told with loads of laughs. We challenge you to find more funny one-liners in any other show. A terrific combination of laughter and empathy.
