Quintessence Theatre will present a World Premiere adaptation of James Baldwin's Giovanni's Room, running from May 28 to June 22, 2025. This adaptation, crafted by Benjamin Sprunger and Paul Oakley Stovall, explores the complex emotional landscape of a young American named David who grapples with his identity and desires in 1950s Paris. As he navigates love and longing with Giovanni, an Italian bartender, David's internal struggle leads to profound consequences. The production is directed by Paul Oakley Stovall, known for his previous work at Quintessence.
