York Little Theatre is holding auditions on February 1 and 2, 2010, for their upcoming production of the Broadway musical Once on this Island which runs April 16 - 25, 2010.
Once on this Island is an extraordinary musical that utilizes a small ensemble of singers/actors/storytellers to tell a poignant and beautiful story that absolutely brims with joy. It is written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the team which created the musicals Ragtime and Seussical. Once on this Island tells the story of a peasant girl who saves and then falls in love with the son of a wealthy family. She is set on a quest by the gods to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death.
Once on this Island was Tony nominated for Best Musical, Best Book and Best Score and was the winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
Anyone interested in auditioning should contact York Little Theatre either at info@ylt.org or 717-854-3894 to schedule an appointment. Audition requirements include 16 bars or 1 minute of a song. Auditioners should come dressed comfortably for a movement audition and bring all known conflicts from February through April.
