York Little Theatre is proud to produce The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor, Aug. 14-16 and 21-23, as part of its rabbittransit children's series, and Columbia Gas 2008-2009 Season.

Set sail on a journey of adventure and discovery as Sinbad, a Persian trader valuing cleverness above all else, uses his wits and humor to challenge hideous one-eyed giants, escape gigantic island monsters, outwit monstrous birds, and always return home to his family, richer and wiser.

The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor is directed by teenage sisters Mary and Missy McCleary, who find their first experience directing to be exciting. "Directing this show has been such a great experience," says Missy, "And I love it." Mary says she had "no idea how much fun it would be."
The McClearys have to manage a cast of 26, mostly teens, and a staff of about 8 teenagers, but they have found their peers to be respectful and "they enjoy what we are doing with them," says Missy. They agree that their greatest challenges have been getting organized and time management. The greatest joy for Mary is "seeing it all come together;" and for Missy it is "seeing everyone having so much fun."

Teen Technical Director, Designer and Stage Manager, John Dumpman is finding the epic sets a great challenge but also great fun. There are more than 20 set changes in the show which transport audience members to 8 magical lands including Borneo, Madagascar, China, India, Bagdad, and The Indies. "We take you to the far corners of the earth," says John, who is also excited about the giant monsters and special effects "which help take you to those fantastical places."
The ensemble show features as Sinbad the Sailor Chance Rohrbaugh, Jesse Snyder and Wayne Mundis, one of only two adults in the cast. Other principles include Anthony Minoglio as Sinbad the Porter, Zak Thomas as the Merchant, and Heather Waller as First Mate.

Performances are at 7 p.m. on Aug. 14, 15, 21, and 22 and 3 p.m. on Aug. 15, 16, 22 and 23. All seats are $8 and reserved. Tickets and more information are available at the box office, 11 - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, at 717-854-5715 or at www.ylt.org. The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor is sponsored by Peoples Bank.
