YLT proudly presents the debut of an original production of The Adventures of Zorro, a family-friendly, swashbuckling adventure story. Zorro is the fictional, Spanish, heroic, masked outlaw who avenges the helpless and punishes the cruel. Since his creation in 1919 Zorro has been featured in numerous artistic outlets including books, films, television, radio, and comics. YLT's new stage version of the classic story is written by local playwright, Julie DiFebo.
Zorro, Spanish for "fox," is really the secret identity of Don Diego de la Vega, a nobleman and master living in the Spanish colonial era of California. As Zorro, he is cunning like a fox and difficult for authorities to catch. He dons his classic black cape, gaucho hat and mask while defending the people against tyranny and villainy. His weapon of choice is the rapier, which he often uses to leave his distinctive mark, a "Z" made with three quick cuts.
The Zorro cast features 35 local actors including Josh Olewiler as Zorro/Diego; Chamatee Mitchell as Esperanza; Chance Rohrbaugh as Matamoros; Dave Hamme as Alejandro de la Vega; Jennifer Bearman as Marisela de Castilla; Dave Kallstrom as Eduardo de Toledo; Jarik Hieronymus as Sargent Garcia; Hannah Dinneen as Bernardo; Katherine Andrews as Fernanda de Toledo; EmiLynn Barber as Governess Sofia; and Alec Lardarelle as Governor Vicente.
