In 2007, The Walnut Street Theatre joined forces with PECO in support of two very special Touring Outreach Productions, The Boy Who Cried Bully and Mean Girlz R Bullies 2. By overwhelming popular demand, The Walnut and PECO are again teaming up to provide enriching and beneficial programming to area schools. This year, the focus turns to the environment with A Forest Fable.

A Forest Fable is an eco-friendly story about a city that destroys its natural beauty in order to support its only industry. When the characters realize that their landscape has been devastated, the audience must play a role in the rebuilding process. Through storytelling, students imagine a future without natural resources and realize the importance of balance, preservation, and knowing that actions have consequences. The Walnut and PECO believe that A Forest Fable will play a valuable role in opening up discussion among teachers and students regarding the future of our planet.

The Walnut Street Theatre is currently celebrating its 201st year of presenting live theatre. It is the oldest continually operating theatre in the English speaking world, and the oldest theatre in America. The Walnut's Education and Outreach programming reaches over 111,000 students, teachers and parents in the Delaware Valley each year.

Walnut Street Theatre and PECO are proud to continue bringing arts education into our area schools while helping students and teachers do their very best to protect our environment.
