Walnut Street Theatre continues its 208th Anniversary Season with Neil Simon's classic comedy Laughter on the 23rd Floor (Now - March 5). Simon used inspiration from his own life when creating this hilarious play. He gives audiences a peek into the writer's room of a hit 1950's television show, based on his time writing for Your Show of Shows. Walnut's New Audience Partner for Laughter on the 23rd Floor, PNC Arts Alive gives the Theatre a unique opportunity to showcase the production to twenty and thirty-somethings, including young professionals and millennials.

PNC Arts Alive is a multi-year, multi-million dollar grant initiative of the PNC Foundation, which receives its principal funding from The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. Now in its ninth year, PNC Arts Alive challenges visual and performing arts organizations to put forth their best, most original thinking in expanding audience participation and engagement. A very prestigious grant, only seventeen arts organizations in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey region are currently supported and Walnut Street Theatre was one.

"Through PNC Arts Alive, we continue to help invigorate local arts organizations while bringing new and exciting programs to our community," said Joe Meterchick, PNC regional president for Philadelphia, Delaware and Southern New Jersey. "The creativity and collaboration demonstrated by the local arts community is evident in the programs that will be introduced, while enabling new visitors and residents alike to experience a diverse range of exhibits and performances."

The Walnut will offer two subsidized performances of Neil Simon's Laughter on the 23rd Floor, distributing a total of 1,600 tickets. The arts in Philadelphia are in need of future generations of cultural community leaders. Through the PNC Arts Alive support, the Theatre has worked with community groups and organizations with young professionals, volunteer groups with young activists and corporate affiliate young leaders groups to distribute tickets to a new, younger audience.

This partnership gives the Theatre an opportunity to cultivate relationships with young audiences, reaffirming the Walnut's commitment to a new generation of theatre-goers, while seeking future sustainers, stakeholders and subscribers.
