Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center And West Chester University Partner For Trio Of Spring Performances  Image

The Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center (226 N. High St., West Chester, PA) and West Chester University (WCU) have announced that they are joining forces for three shows this Spring, starting with the Wells School of Music's 32nd Annual Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $25.

Featuring NEA Jazz Masters Lifetime AchievementAward-Winner Dave Liebman (saxophonist, flutist, and educator) as well as WCU's Criterion Jazz ensemble, and the Dalí Quartet, this event promises to be a magical evening of memorable music.The evening will also preview a new composition by Jonathan Ragonese, featuring students from the wind and brass departments.

TheWells School of Music will return to the Uptown! stage on Friday, April 1at 7:30 PM as it presents the "Sounds Of The Caribbean" with Dr. Marc Jacoby and the WCU Latin Jazz and Steel Bands. Tickets are $20; $15 for students.

During this exciting concert, special guests Juan Alamo and John Wooton, as well as members of the Wells School of Music jazz faculty will perform everything from the high-energy sounds of the Mambo, Merengue and Soca to the slow grooves of the Calypso, Bolero and Bachata.

Completing the WCU arts trifecta is the West Chester Dance Works' (WCDW) Annual Concert/ Fundraiser "Refresh!"on Sunday, April 3 at 3 PM.This much-anticipated event features a concert-length dance production showcasing WCDW's Junior Performers, DM Dance Machine Dance Team, Annointed Dance, Annointed Too and Signature/Training Company reprising its classic work "Pressure."

This-one-of-a-kind fundraiser brings dancers of all ages into a dynamic and inspiring family-friendly production featuring guest performances from WCU's Dance Company. A "Premier" experience, which includes a pre-concert reception (tasting menu and cash bar), "Refresh" gift bag, and VIP-concert seating, will also be offered at 2 PM for premier ticket holders. Tickets are $60.00 Adult; $30.00 Youth (17 years old & under) for premier ticket holders. $30 GA; $20 Students; $15 Children (11 years old and under).

"WCU, Wells School of Music and West Chester Dance Worksare the not-so-hidden gems of our community," said April Evans, executive director for Uptown!. "These performances will shine a spotlight on the breadth of musical and dance talent trained and nurtured here in West Chester."

The WCU events are only a taste of the incredible entertainment lined up at Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center. Other shows include Best Friend's Girl: The Cars Experience(March 26), Talking Sticks and Brasilian Vibes (April 2), Bad Animals- The Heart Tribute (April 8), and more.
