Tiny Dynamite Productions presents the Philadelphia premier of 'The Country' by Martin Crimp at the Walnut Street Theatre, Studio 5 from tonight, June 20th through July 1st 2012.

Following two sell-out and critically acclaimed seasons of 'a Play, a Pie and a Pint,' Tiny Dynamite will now bring a full length work to the intimate setting of the Walnut Street Studio 5. This will be the first Philadelphia production of British playwright Martin Crimp's work.

One of the most acclaimed voices of modern playwriting, Martin Crimp's work spans cult texts, such as Attempts on her Life, and bold adaptations of Molière. Most recently, his translation of Big and Small, a co-production with The Sydney Theatre Company, opened at The Barbican Centre to rave reviews. His plays include Three Attempted Acts (1985), No One Sees the Video (1991), Getting Attention (1992), The Treatment (1993, winner of the John Whiting Award), and Attempts on her Life (1997) . He has translated or adapted work by Ionesco (The Chairs, 1997), Genet (The Maids, 1999) and Moliere (The Misanthrope, 1996).His work in the UK has been produced by the Orange Tree Theatre, the West Yorkshire Playhouse, the Stephen Joseph Theatre, the RSC, the Young Vic and the Royal Court, where he was writer-in-residence in 1997. In New York his work has been seen at The Public Theater and the Classic Stage Company, as well as on Broadway. Fraught with suspense, The Country is a darkly humorous and compelling play about a doctor and his wife who move to the country with their children to start a new life, but their rustic idyll is shattered one night by the discovery of an unconscious stranger.

The production will be directed by Barrymore nominated director, David O'Connor. O'Connor has worked with Tiny Dynamite on both seasons of 'a Play, a Pie and a Pint' and is resident director of Philadelphia Young Playwrights and an adjunct professor at Temple University and The University of Pennsylvania. He has directed for the Arden, PlayPenn, Hedgerow, and the Lantern where he was nominated for a Barrymore and named Director of the Year by Philadelphia Weekly for his direction of "Master Harold...and the boys." He is also a Barrymore nominated Lighting Designer.

The cast includes Laura Edoff, Carl Granieri and Emma Gibson (artistic director of Tiny Dynamite and producer of 'a Play, a Pie and a Pint').
