The Time Menders Bring THE ANNIHILATION POINT To Philly Fringe 9/4-19

The Time Menders announces its world premiere of THE ANNIHILATION POINT in the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe, 2009* on September 4th & 5th @ 10pm, September 10th & 11th @ 10pm, September 12th @ 12 midnight, September 16th @ 8pm, September 17th @ 10pm, September 18th @ 10pm and 12 midnight, and September 19th @ 8pm and 12 midnight at Arts Underground at the Wolf Building 340 N 12th Street (12th and Callowhill).

From the twisted minds that created last year's Philly Fringe hit The Giant Squid and ‘07's The Jersey Devil comes The Annihilation Point - the theatrical experience of the future! Three renegade time travelers beam to the present-day from the year 3037 A.X. ("After Xenocide"). They come bearing a warning of the end. With gobs of futuristic technology, a vast array of survival knowledge, and the will to live, Astronaut Z, his cyborg companion Dr. Roebert Doomstache, and alien advisor Lt. Gregory Tamborsky attempt to salvage humanity by time-jumping the audience into the future, past the end of man. Laugh in the face of mutants, machines, and flesh eating nano-bots. Scream in horror as the trio is pursued by inter-dimensional droid vigilantes. Feel the terror of the Annihilation Point!!!

Under the alias company name Time Mender Productions, the creators of this new work consist of long-term collaborators Justin Jain, David Johnson, Timothy Sawicki, and Bradley K. Wrenn. As a collective, these four Philly-based artists have spearheaded a comedic theatrical style that blends physical theatre, puppetry, music, sketch, and prop comedy to tell compelling and fantastic stories. Individually, each artist has worked professionally with several Philadelphia-based theatres including Theatre Horizon, Arden Theatre Company, The Lantern Theatre, Shakespeare in Clark Park, and Bristol Riverside Theatre, to name a few. Joining the team this year, is co-producer Bryan Clark, an artist and mastermind who currently serves as Managing Director for Philadelphia's Theatre Exile. Design duo Lisi Stoessel and Jack Higgins will help transform a warehouse basement into a bomb shelter, complete with futuristic simulation rooms, talking computers, and a time machine. Sound genius Christopher Colucci will supplement original design. Rounding out the team is director Dan Rothenberg, artistic director of Pig Iron Theatre Company and longtime supporter of the artistic team's past work.

With seven of the eleven performances taking place at 10pm and a couple happening at 12midnight, it is the hope of the artistic team to attract an even larger pool of late-night theatre goers who seek thrills at the end of a show-packed day. Dually, this venue is located just blocks from the Philly Fringe Box office and festival lounge.

This show marks the second production mounted in the all-new Art Underground at the Wolf Building, right on the heels of theatre artist Sarah Sanford's (of Pig Iron Theatre Company) Appetite. Wolf Building manager and owner Gary Reuben hopes to create an artistic home for many of Philadelphia's theatre, visual, and musical artists year-round while providing a fun and comfortable atmosphere in which to network and hang out. Located right in the heart of center city at 12th and Spring Garden Streets, the 4600 square foot space is an enormous venue that can adapt to any artistic endeavor - from major art installations to intimate cabaret performances. Reuben plans to add lounge areas and café tables to make this truly an incubator where artists feel welcome and comfortable. The Annihilation Point utilizes this vast and enormous space to its fullest potential - at points, the audience walks though the space to experience the show, while at others extreme distance and hidden corners provide dynamic playing spaces.
