The Montgomery County Cultural Center Presents JAZZ FOR KIDS

MONTGOMERY COUNTY CULTURAL CENTER IN COLLABORATION WITH YOUNG AUDIENCES OF EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA presents JAZZ FOR KIDS

A public performance of Jazz for Kids with David Leonhardt Jazz Trio will culminate a day of workshops for educators, musicians and interested parents on February 6, when Young Audiences of Eastern PA spurs a regional effort to share the nationally treasured art-form with a larger youth and family audience. With the support of a National Young Audiences Arts for Learning Classical Initiatives grant, the fifty-five year old arts organization will present a morning of professional development geared towards teachers, musicians and those interested in sharing Jazz with children, and then conclude with a concert open to he public.

The Jazz for Kids public concert with David Leonhardt Jazz Trio will take place on February 6, 2009 at the Montgomery County Cultural Center, 208 DeKalb Street, Norristown PA. at 1 p.m. Concert tickets for the public are available for a donation of $15 for adults and $8 for children. A series of professional development workshops will be presented preceding the concert from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for educators, musicians and parents interested in learning more about how introducing Jazz to children can inspire them as both musicians and as creative thinkers in the classroom.

Attendance at the professional development workshops includes a ticket to the Jazz for Kids concert and is just $50 per participant. Schools or arts organizations sending multiple representatives will receive a 50% discount on all workshop fees for two or more representatives. Norristown School District elementary and music teachers are also invited to attend the program at 50% off the workshop price.
