Temple Theaters presents William Shakespeare's THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, directed by James J. Christy, running tonight, February 3, through February 14, 2016 in Temple University's Tomlinson Theater.

This lively comedy, considered Shakespeare's first, centers around two friends who become romantic rivals when the complexities of adolescent love overshadow friendship. Talented undergraduate and graduate students star in this luscious Fellini-inspired production.

Young nobleman Valentine (Paul Harrold) travels to Milan for fortune, but instead falls in love with the fair Silvia (K.O. DelMarcelle), daughter of the Duke (Kimberlyn Austin). Valentine's efforts to woo Silvia are complicated by the arrival of his cousin and best friend Proteus (Jon Diaz). Proteus abandons his love Julia (Katie Horner) and attempts to court Silvia for himself. With help from her maid Lucetta (Hannah Gold), the jilted Julia heads to Milan to win back Proteus. With a pair of bumbling servants (Marcellus McQueen and Jocelyn Milch) and a dog, THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA is more than a trial run; it's an entertaining and romantic comedy about love's metamorphosis.

Director James J. Christy is an established award-winning Philadelphia director and educator; he is a Professor Emeritus of Villanova University, where he taught for thirty-nine years. Christy's credits include The Glass Menagerie (Act Two Playhouse), Vanya, Sonya, Masha and Spike (The Philadelphia Theater Company), and Much Ado About Nothing (Philadelphia Shakespeare Company). He is the recipient of a number of nominations, two Barrymore Awards for direction and a Barrymore Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Temple Theaters' season continues The Odyssey adapted by Mary Zimmerman and directed by Brandon McShaffrey, March 16 - 26, 2016 and Godspell, directed by Amina Robinson, April 13 - 24, 2016.
