As seen on "America's Got Talent", a Tape Face show is a unique experience: a mime with noise, stand-up with no talking - drama with no acting. Tape Face brings his signature style of prop comedy to the State Theatre on Friday, October 13.
Show time is 7:30 PM. Tickets are $26/$19 and can be purchased by visiting the State Theatre Box Office, 453 Northampton Street, Easton, by calling 1-800-999-STATE, 610.252.3132 or online at www.statetheatre.org.
After getting his start in the United Kingdom and his native New Zealand, Tape Face, whose real name is Sam Wills, impressed judges on the 11th season of NBC's "America's Got Talent," where his comedic wordless performance prompted judge Simon Cowell to call him "a modern Charlie Chaplin." While he did not make it into the top 5, Wills was a fan favorite who progressed all the way to the finals of the competition. With his trademark tape, black-rimmed eyes and spiky hair, Tape Face has reached viral status at more than 28 million views on YouTube.
Wills started his performing career as a busker (street performer) and won the Press People's Choice Award at the World Buskers Festival in 2008. He used the prize money to develop his hit show "The Boy with Tape on his Face," which sold out around the world. Wills has packed theaters in Britain, enjoyed several sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, and performed at the Royal Albert Hall. His many awards and nominations include Adelaide Fringe Awards for "Best Comedy" and "Pick of the Fringe."
Tape Face is a character with universal appeal. Delightful, wry, many-layered and hilarious, he transcends the barriers of language and culture. Audiences will laugh, they'll scream and ultimately end up like Tape Face himself - lost for words.
