B. Someday Productions of Kensington/Fishtown, in partnership with Mariana Bracetti Academy High School will present the culmination of a semester's work with the students at a Public Performance on Thursday, January 21. There will be two performances: 4:00pm and 6:00pm. The performance, entitled "Of Mythic Proportions" was created from the 9th-12th grade student's personal stories about growing up in Kensington and how violence has become a part of their lives. The students will perform their work at The Walking Fish Theatre, 2509 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125 for the community and the general public. In addition to the performance, there will be a short discussion raised by the topics in the stories, with a chance for the audience to interact with the performers. Following the workshop will be a reception with refreshments. The cost is free.
"Of Mythic Proportions" is part of B. Someday's Professional Partnership Program-an internship and mentoring project-- with students from the community. B. Someday also offers the Family Theatre Series on the first Saturday of every month as part of its Educational Outreach program.
"B. Someday has been an excellent community partner, not only successfully reaching out to our community of students, but also engaging their parents and other adults in the community. Their impact on the students was incredibly obvious and was felt by all the workshop participants," says Laura Semmelroth, Coral Street Arts House coordinator.

This is the second year of residency for B. Someday at Mariana Bracetti Academy, at 2501 Kensington Avenue in Philadelphia. It is the high school for many students in the American Street Empowerment Zone. This area of the city is often fraught with violence, especially among its youth. B. Someday Productions along with the United Way and NTI hopes to give the youth of the community an opportunity to express themselves in a creative endeavor and to share with the community positive avenues and alternatives to violence.
