For the fourth straight year, The Thomas F. Staley Foundation is offering full-tuition scholarships to The State Theatre Summer Acting Camp. The scholarship opportunity is being offered to benefit children with limited financial resources who are interested in the performing arts and in attending the acting camp. Applications and eligibility requirements are available for download at www.statetheatre.org/schedule or by calling 610-252-3132.

Consisting of 3 separate groups, Grades 4-5, Grades 6-8 and Grades 9-12, the two week course is designed to include an educationally based yet fun-filled theater experience. Each child will rotate daily between three classes (Acting, Music and Dance), learning valuable lessons and tips needed in all phases of theater. Some subjects covered include audition technique, presentation, terminology, character development, scene work, improv skills and acting games, choreography, show preparation, and musical technique. Each Year is a unique experience! A tour of the historic State Theatre will also be included.

Classes will begin on Monday, July 13 and run weekdays through July 24. Morning sessions are available from 9 AM - 12:30 PM and Afternoon sessions from 1:30 PM - 5 PM. The course will culminate in a student-showcasing recital on the State Theatre stage on Saturday, July 28th at 2 PM. The recital will be open to the public. The fee for the 10 day course is $225, which includes 2 free tickets to the July 25th recital in the State Theatre's Acopian Ballroom. Class size is limited to 20 students per group.

Directed by Denise Crawn of Prestige Productions, the State Theatre Summer Acting Camp will include instructors with extensive experience in theater arts. They work side by side embracing and encouraging those new to the arts, as well as challenging even the most experienced young actor.
