Schmidt's Commons organizes First Friday Salsa Nights with partners Sempre Salsa Philly and Take the Lead Dance Project. This monthly dance series debuted in 2017 and is part of new event programming at Schmidt's Commons that also includes live concerts, movies under the stars, sports watch parties, community events and annual larger signature events. First Friday Salsa Night, along with quarterly Makers' Markets, Succulent Workshops, Movie Nights and other events are designed to activate the space at Schmidt's Commons, while supporting and increasing engagement with the local Northern Liberties neighborhood and community.

This past weekend, the event season at Schmidt's kicked off with Philadelphia Beard Festival, Margarita Rumble, the Markers' Market and Local Libations Garden, and the launch party for Philly Tech Week. All events and event rentals are handled by Event Coordinator Krystal Souvanlasy.

"First Friday Salsa Nights at Schmidt's Commons was one of the brand new event series we launched in 2016 and then expanded in 2017," said Souvanlasy. "We surveyed and worked with the community to come up with engaging and exciting events that brought people together. We started with over 100 people the first event and this grew to over 1,000 people by October of last year. It was amazing to see this free community event organically attract such a loyal following. We are thrilled to be back again for another year, and we thank Sempre Salsa Philly and Take the Lead Dance Project for their help in making this program such a success."

Stay tuned later this week for the announcement of May's line-up of movies, music and other events beyond First Friday Salsa Night. For the list of coming events at Schmidt's Commons, visit https://theschmidtscommons.com/event/ or call 267-246-0618.
