The Mountain Playhouse in Jennerstown announced today that stage and screen star, Sandy Duncan, will star in The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams, September 15-27, at the professional summer theater in Jennerstown, Pennsylvania. Duncan's special guest appearance coincides with the theater's 70th anniversary season.
Guy Stroman who direcTed Duncan last month in Driving Miss Daisy at the Casa Manana Theatre in Fort Worth, Texas will also direct Duncan in The Glass Menagerie. The two, who are both Texas natives, share a long friendship and have worked together since 1980 when both starred on Broadway in Peter Pan, Duncan in the title role and Stroman as one of the Pirates. Years later, the two joined forces again in the concert series, "Sandy Duncan Celebrates Broadway, with Guy Stroman and Don Correia (Duncan's husband)", which played concert and symphony halls around the world. Stroman has also direcTed Duncan in a one-woman show, Free Fall, which she co-authored.
Duncan received Tony Award nominations for her roles in Canterbury Tales, The Boyfriend, and Peter Pan. She last appeared on Broadway as Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning hit musical Chicago.
She made her mark in television in her own comedy series, Funny Face, for which she earned an Emmy Award nomination. She received her second Emmy nomination for her performance in the critically-acclaimed mini-series Roots, where she ranged in age from 20 to 70. She has appeared in movies, most recently in Never Again with Jill Clayburgh and has guest starred on Law and Order.

Founded in 1939 near Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the Mountain Playhouse is an Equity theater whose professional actors perform in a historic 200 year old gristmill theater. The theater is Pennsylvania's oldest professional summer theater and 1 of only 11 professional resident summer stock theaters in the United States. The theater is located on Route 985, one-half mile north of the Lincoln Highway (Route 30) in Jennerstown, Pennsylvania.
