Philadelphia actor Scott Langdon, who recently received rave reviews as King Arthur in The Media Theatre's production ofSpamalot, will perform his all of the roles in the original Charles Dickens masterpiece, "A Christmas Carol" every weekend tonight, November 24 - December 22, 2013, at The Media Theatre. Langdon was also seen recently on The Media Theatre stage in several roles in Artistic Director Jesse Cline's critically acclaimed production of "Mame" which was also produced at The Bucks County Playhouse.
This unique production uses minimal set pieces, relying instead on Dickens' text and Langdon's ability to portray every character in the story. The actor brought the production to Princeton, NJ in 2009 and the huge East Brunswick Performing Arts Center in 2011, to great acclaim.
Langdon will utilize his acting prowess to portray Scrooge, Fezziwig, Tiny Tim, the Three Ghosts and every other yuletide Dickensian character in an adaptation taken directly from Charles Dickens' own version of his famous story.
Dickens, famous as an author, was equally popular with audiences as a reader of his works on the stage. From 1867-68, Dickens brought his enormously successful reading tour to America. His favorite work to read- and far and away the one most adored by fans- was his "A Christmas Carol." It was from this reading tour that Langdon took inspiration for his interpretation of the story.
"Everyone from Jim Carrey and Patrick Stewart to The Muppets has had a go at delivering this timeless tale, yet it continues to be relevant today. It gets to the heart and soul of the holidays with a message that is universal," says Langdon. "It has been a dream of mine for years to bring this to the stage this unique adaptation which will bring the story to life in a whole new way."
Langdon will perform his version of "A Christmas Carol" Saturdays at 11:00am and Sundays at 7:00pm from November 24-December 22. Tickets are a very family friendly $15 per person. All Family, Youth, and Broadway Series shows at The Media Theatre are produced by Media Music Theatre Company. The Media Theatre is located at 104 State St. in Media.
