Actor Tristan J. Shuler, currently performing in the hit Off-Broadway parody Spamilton, will workshop with and speak to State Theatre Acting Camp students on Monday, July 24th in the State Theatre's main hall.
There will be two presentations: 11:45 am - 12:30pm for the morning session students and 1:30pm - 2:15 pm for the afternoon students. Workshops will focus on the audition process.
Born in Staten Island, New York, Tristan J. Shuler grew up on a military base in Brooklyn, NY. He started out singing church music, studying gospel and classical choral at a young age. He then studied in Easton, Pennsylvania at The State Theatre Center for the Arts (Thomas F. Staley Foundation Scholarship recipient), The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts, and trained in NYC at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The Actors' Project NYC, Gotham Writers' Workshop, and with many other esteemed coaches and teachers. Tristan has been seen performing in various cabarets, musicals, and other shows in NYC, as well as guest appearances and teaching around the tri-state area.
You can find Tristan parodying the hit Broadway musical Hamilton eight times a week at Spamilton: An American Parody Off-Broadway, winner of the MAC Award Best Show of the Year, Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Unique Theatrical Experience, with an Outer Critics Circle nomination and 2 Drama Desk nominations.
Most recently, Tristan spent two weeks with Teatro Potlach studying cultural theatre practices from all over the world at the Intercultural Festival Laboratory of Theatre Practice (FLIPT) Festival in the beautiful Fara Sabina, Italy.

The State Theatre Acting Camp runs though July 28th. Camp Recital is Saturday, July 29 at 2 PM on the State Theatre main stage.
