The voices of Americans who were wrongly convicted of heinous crimes, sentenced to death and jailed for years will be heard when Raven Hill Productions presents the stage play "The Exonerated," written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, Upstairs at the Adrienne.  This compelling 90-minute production about condemnation of the innocent, imprisonment and redemption is directed by Esther Flaster.

"The Exonerated" tells the true stories of David Keaton, Delbert Tibbs, Gary Gauger, Robert Earl Hayes, Sonia Jacobs and Kerry Max Cook.  They were convicted of murders, sent to death row and incarcerated from two to 22 years only to be found innocent and later released from jail.  Cast members play the exonerated, their loved ones, police, judges, prosecutors and defense lawyers involved in their cases.  All speak with both seriousness and deft touches of humor.  The cast includes: Theresa Dolan, Frantz Excellent, Michael Hagan, Rob Hargraves, Andy Kushner, Ray Mamrak, Michelle Pauls, Roderick Slocum, Kara Shelton and Damien J. Wallace.

Stunned silence preceded passionate applause after performances of the play when it first ran during The Ritz Theatre Company's Summer Artist Festival 2010 in Oaklyn, N.J.  Audience enthusiasm and individual commentary convinced all involved that THE EXONERATED should be staged in Philadelphia.  In collaboration with Raven Hill Productions, which produced "Shooting Gallery" at the 2003 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, they found the perfect venue for this show in the newly renovated space - Upstairs at the Adrienne - 2030 Sansom Street in Center City.

"The Exonerated" will run Upstairs at the Adrienne on Thursdays through Sundays, October 21, 22, 23, 24, October 28, 29, 30, 31 and November 4, 5, 6, 7.  Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m.  Sunday shows begin at 2 p.m.  Tickets, $20, may be purchased online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/producer/24255 or at the door.  Student or artist discounted tickets are available for $15 with ID.
