Plays & Players presents the second installment of its series dedicated to introducing young audiences to the power of live theater. This season's P.L.A.Y. (Philadelphia Local Artists for Youth) show is a world premiere entitled Dream House: A Rainy Day Play, written by Jeremy Gable, directed by Jack Tamburri and performed by Jennifer MacMillan. Performances run tonight, November 6-23, Wednesday-Friday at 10:00am, Thursdays again at 4pm (except for 11/6), Saturdays & Sundays at 2:00pm & 4:30pm at 1714 Delancey Place. Tickets are $12-$20 and available online at www.playsandplayers.org or by calling 866-811-4111.

Dream House: A Rainy Day Play is appropriate for children ages 4 to 104 (and highly recommended for school aged children)! The show reminds us all that play can open up new ways of seeing the world and the people around us. We follow Jenn, who returns to the old Philadelphia house that she grew up in. She has no electricity and no TV, only an assortment of household items to keep her occupied. With a thunderstorm coming, and the memories of the house haunting her, can she learn to use her imagination to fight her grown-up fears?

Philadelphia Local Artists for Youth is truly a local endeavor: a local playwright telling local stories utilizing local actors, directors, and designers. Each play is developed and workshopped throughout the summer and presented the following season. P.L.A.Y. is an imaginative new program which offers a theatrically immersive experience for young audiences, engaging their creativity to help build and spark each performance. This year's performance is also Barrymore Award eligible and utilizes a roster of high quality artists. Performer Jennifer MacMillan is the winner of the 2014 National Inaugural "Are Women Funny?" new play competition sponsored by Playscripts and the International Center for Women Playwrights. Playwright Jeremy Gable is a Core Playwright at InterAct Theatre and a member of the Foundry. Jack Tamburri has an MFA in Directing from Yale University. The set is designed by Colin McIlvaine, the lights are designed by 2014 Barrymore nominee Andrew Cowles, the sound is designed by Liz Atkinson, and the puppets and costumes are by Leila Ghaznavi.

The P.L.A.Y. program was conceived by Producing Artistic Director Daniel Student, who previously served as an assistant producer on the Philadelphia International Children's Festival and as administrative director of International Performing Arts for Youth where he organized the annual Showcase Conference. Through these two events, Mr. Student implemented the presentation of theatrical performances for young audiences of the highest artistic standard from Australia, Europe, South America and more. With his leadership, Plays & Players will strive to meet these standards. Dream House uses shadow puppetry, clown performance, and, as a one-person show, provides an intimacy rarely seen in American theater for young audiences.
