Plays & Players, Center City Philadelphia's longest continually operated theater will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical "Carousel" directed by Lance Moore.
When a mill girl in a small New England fishing village, Julie Jordan, marries a handsome carousel barker, Billy Bigelow, things soon turn sour for the couple. Desperate for money after learning that he is soon to become a father, Billy is killed duringan attempted robbery. Several years later, Billy is allowed to return to earth for a short time, he seeks out his daughter. Enter a world of love lost and love regained. Carousel first appeared on Broadway in 1945 and contains classic musical numbers such as "If I Loved You", "June Is Bustin' Out All Over", and "You'll Never Walk Alone".
Preview performances - May 27 and 28th (8:00 pm) with opening performance, May 29 (8:00 pm). Evening performances are at 8:00 pm - June 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12. Matinee performances are 3:00 pm - May 30 and June 6
Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door for general admission. Student Rush tickets available one-half hour before show, $15. Following the Opening Performance all audience members are invited to attend a celebration with the cast at Quig's Pub, upstairs at the theatre.
