The Players Club of Swarthmore presents the magical high-flying family musical Mary Poppins Dec. 2-17, for ten performances at 614 Fairview Ave. in Swarthmore. Directed by Brian Walsh, the show is perfect for the holiday season. It includes music direction by Emily Szal, choreography by Emily Aaron Fishman and Katie Sienkiewicz , book by Julian Fellowes; music by Robert B. Sherman, Richard M. Mary Poppins is the practically perfect nanny who helps us learn to take our medicine with a spoonful of sugar, find the silver lining in every situation, and realize that the winds of change can bring surprise and delight. Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for more than 2,500 performances and received seven Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. Beloved tunes include "A Spoonful of Sugar," "Step in Time," "Practically Perfect," and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

Bridget Thompson, Havertown (Mary Poppins) and Neil Kirschling, Wilmington (Bert) lead a cast of 40 talented actors, singers and dancers from the Delaware Valley. Other leads include Eric Carter-Thompson (Mr. Banks), Leah Sucharski, Aidan (Mrs. Banks), Zoe Hunchak, Springfield, and Ella Grossman, Swarthmore (double cast as Jane), Samuel Gorman, Malvern, and Will Rubin, Media (double cast as Michael), Ann Ramsey, Swarthmore (Mrs. Brill), Kevin Gane, Aston (Robinson Ay), Doris Chan, Concord Twp. (Bird Woman), and Kat Lemon, Baltimore (Miss Andrew).

Mary Poppins runs from Friday, Dec. 2 through Saturday, Dec. 17. Thursday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Audiences can meet the artists in a talkback discussion after the Dec. 4 performance.
