Everyone's Favorite ogre is back in this hilarious stage spectacle. The Players Club of Swarthmore, Children's Series presents Shrek The Musial (Theatre for Young Audiences Version), Feb. 1-10, for eight performances at 614 Fairview Ave. in Swarthmore. Ally Greene Perez and Justin Caiazzo direct this entertaining musical, with choreography by Olivia Goodwin, and musical direction by Eric Carter-Thompson. Buy tickets online at www.pcstheater.org. Shrek The Musical features songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, and Change ) and a side-splitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire.
An unlikely hero, Shrek (Avery Leach, Upper Darby) finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside the wisecracking Donkey (Kat Lemon, Swarthmore) and a feisty princess Fiona (Kristin Hegel, Philadelphia) who resists her rescue. Additional cast members include Mike Sokolowski, Philadelphia; Tess Sinatra, Blue Bell; Meg Cranney, Philadelphia; Lisa Bassett, Collegeville; Chaz Meyers, Media; Caitlin Naylor, Springfield; Marissa Capuano, Aston and Jeffrey Martin, Upper Darby. Shrek The Musical proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, is irreverent fun for the whole family and and other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.
Shrek The Musical runs from Friday, Mar. 1, through Sunday, Mar. 10. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:00 p.m. Sunday performances will be at both 11:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. Performances will be held on the "Second Stage" on the second floor above the lobby. After each show the actors will be available in the lobby for photos and autographs.
